The award-winning magazine DoubleTake has launched a new website geared to teachers and their high school-aged students. The site includes thematic units of study that correspond to common curriculum areas: race relations, work, sense of place, beyond political ideology, and sense of identity. Students can explore each theme using examples from photography, fiction, poetry, and essays. Each section includes suggested questions and activities that encourage a variety of discussions that range from a particular piece of material to more general notions and ideas.
The Earth Balloon is a site for a K-12 interactive outreach program called the Earth Awareness Program. They use a 22 foot Earth Balloon to teach students about the changing earth. The site also links to environmental, science, social studies, geography, history, and museum web pages.

The Tools for Change site contains lots of tips on how to evaluate learning situations to cultivate healthy school environments. "Raising Self-Esteem" and "Reducing Offending" explain the benefits of activities over constant lecture-based learning. They also publish a monthly update that you can receive by email called 'Active Reviewing Tips'. Violence in the Schools. This issue of "Teacher Talk" focuses on ways to manage student disruptions. Under "Interventions," click on "Respect" and "Tips for Creating a Peaceful Classroom" for simple steps educators can take to ensure a friendlier and more productive relationship with all students.
